Lobelia inflata
Campanulaceae (Bellflower family)
Indian tobacco was used medicinally by Native Americans to treat muscle disorders, and it was also used as a purgative. This plant has also been used for its psychoactive effects in sacred ceremonies and rituals, and it has also been used to induce vomitting. The root of this plant can be fatal if too much is consumed. Indian tobacco contains lobeline, which was once used to help people quit smoking.
